Date: Monday Monday 21st February
Time: 8pm
Speakers: Dr Clare Kelly
Abstract:
In this talk, I’ll outline research from the fields of psychology and behavioural science that can inform our understanding of how we can foster a modal shift away from habitual car use towards active travel. I’ll address popular “nudge” approaches and discuss why, when it comes to the car, nudges can be ineffective, and stronger approaches are needed to encourage sustainable travel. Finally, I’ll consider the power of collective behaviour for bringing about positive change.
Dr Clare Kelly is an Associate Professor at the School of Psychology, Trinity College Dublin.
